(1) Insert the disk into your CD-ROM drive with the label facing up.
(2) Double-click the "Sweet" icon when it appears on you screen.
(3) The program will appear and start by itself.

Q: Can I copy the Sweet icon to my hard drive and run the software from there?
A: Yes, you can. This will also allow you to custom set the memory in the information dialog box, accessed by clicking once on the icon to highlight it and then either selecting the get info option from the file menu or by holding down the command key and typing an "i".
Q: My sound is choppy and keeps cutting out. What can I do?
A: First check if virtual memory is turned on. You can check this by opening the control panels folder inside your system folder. Double click on the memory icon and look at the virtual memory option. If it is marked on, then click on the off option and restart the computer. If this doesn't solve the problem, check if you have Ram Doubler enabled. Disable Ram Doubler by either using extension management software or by simply dragging it out of the extensions folder (found inside the system folder) and restarting the computer.
Q: I don't hear any sound at all. How do I fix this?
A: After starting up the software click on the sweet logo at the bottom of the screen. Now click on the volume button to make sure that your sound is above the bottom marker.
Q: Why does the software tell me that I don't have enough RAM?
A: The Macintosh system software can sometimes take up a lot of RAM, leaving very little left over to run software applications. There are ways of having the system take up less memory, allowing the software to take up a little more. Start by disabling any extensions which are not required by the program. The Sweet Digizine requires that Quicktime, the Sound Manager and the Apple CD-ROM extension be enabled. All other extensions can be disabled by either turning them off at startup using extension management software or by dragging them out of the extensions folder (located within the system folder) and restarting the computer. If after disabling extensions there is still insufficient RAM to use the software, try disabling any unncecessary control panels using the same methods described above. Q: What is RAM and how do I know how much RAM my computer has?
A: RAM stands for Random Access Memory. This is similar to working memory in human brains. It is a temporary storage area for information contained in the software. The more RAM you have, the more space the software has to work with while it is running and therefore, the better it runs. You can check how much RAM you have by pulling down the apple menu located at the top left corner of your screen while you're at the finder (looking at the desktop) and selecting about this Macintosh. The number next to total memory indicates how much RAM is installed on your computer. The number next to system software indicates how much RAM you system is using. Finally, the number next to largest unused block indicates how much RAM is available for the software you wish to run.
Q: What is a type 11 error and how do I correct it?
A: The type 11 error sometimes indicates that there are multiple versions of the same extension in the system folder. This can cause problems when trying to run software, but is easily corrected. Open the system folder and make sure that there are not any extensions sitting in there. Extensions belong in the extensions folder, and control panels belong in the control panels folder. You can often tell what type of file the icon represents by checking its information dialog box. This box can be viewed by clicking on the icon once so that it is in its highlighted state and then either selecting get info from the file menu or typing an "i" while the command key is held down. Next to "kind" there should be a short description of the file type. Once the system folder has been cleaned up, open the extensions folder and ensure that there are no duplicate file extensions. Duplicates may have slightly different names but should have the same icon (picture). Remove any duplicate extensions by dragging them out of the extensions folder and placing them somewhere on your hard drive outside of the system folder. Generally speaking, you may wish to keep the more recent extension and throw out the old one. Once all this has been done launch the software by double clicking on the icon.
Q: What do I do with the items found in 'Put in system folder'?
A: If you haven't found this folder on the CD, don't worry about it. These items are extensions which the software requires to run properly on your computer. After starting up the software the program will determine if you are missing any of these extensions and will place them in the appropriate place on your hard drive for you. However, if you wish and you feel confident that you know what you are doing, you may place the extensions into the extensions folder before starting up the software. Don't forget to restart your computer if you choose do this this installation yourself.
Q: I've tried everything and I continue to experience problems trying to startup the software. Is there any way of avoiding all of the warning messages?
A: Yes there is. If hold down the control key (located in the lower left corner of your keyboard) while you are starting up the software then you should bypass the warning messages. Remember, hold down the control key while double clicking the Sweet icon, and then keep holding it down until the program has started.
Q: My computer has less than 5 megabytes of RAM available. What can I do?
A: If your computer has less than 5 megabytes of available ram then the program will have a hard time running. You can try one of the following suggestions:
(i) Turn Virtual Memory on and ignore the warning message. (The music and videos may become choppy) Virtual Memory can be turned on through the Memory Control Panel in your system folder.
Q: I am using a non-english language version of the Macitosh Operating System. I am receiving alert messages indicating that Quicktime 2.5 and Sound Manager 3.1 need to be installed. However, I know that I have these extensions installed on my computer.
A: This may be caused by a difference in the file names on your computer and the file names on the U.S. version of the Macintosh operating System. Please see the folder titled "For_Non_US_Systems". You can also hold down the control key when you start up the program. This will disable the warning messages.
